Wheels and Wings: Evening of Fun Yields $14,000 Toward Helping Indiana Youth

By February 13, 2014Stories from the Blog

The partnership between Flight1 and Nine13sports couldn’t have worked out any better Saturday night. The beer was cold, the people were out, and the mood was light. Highlighted by guests including racing star Charlie Kimball and performances by local artists Ryan Brewer and the Lightweights XL, Wheels and Wings at the Speak Easy was the place to be this past weekend!

Whether you were a VIP, a walk up, or a member of Flight1 or Nine13Sports, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Pacer’s Sports and Entertainment emcee Larra Overton kept the festivities rolling along as speakers and bands took the stage, setting the tone for a great evening. The place was packed with attendees bustling about the room; bidding at the silent auction, racing bikes, meeting new faces, and enjoying the music.

Then of course there was the plane parked next to the band. Vincennes University’s Aviation Technical Center, a long-time and much appreciated Flight1 supporter, supplied the sporty two-seat Pulsar.

As the night waned, attendees dug into their pockets after exhausting their Sun King drink tickets. Smiles abounded and leaving was tough, but the evening had to end. All in all, it was definitely a night to remember.

Flight1 would like to thank not only all the attendees for their time and donations, but also our special guest and performers and our sponsors for helping us help our Courageous Fliers. We also appreciate the great people at Nine13sports and look forward to more joint ventures. Finally, a big thank you goes out to all the volunteers! Without their help, this event wouldn’t have been possible.

If you weren’t able to join us this past weekend, don’t worry…just stay tuned for what’s next!  (Hint: Brackets for Good)
