2013 Brought Growth, Partnerships and Confidence

By March 12, 2014Stories from the Blog

Flight1 fostered a lot of confidence in its Courageous Fliers last year – and gained some of its own in the bargain.

Founder Marcus Strawhorn says, “We’re really encouraged by how well our program is working, the partnerships we’ve built, and the success of events like Community Day and our ongoing aviation activities. It’s all focused on building confidence and we’re seeing the results.”

Those activities included simulator sessions and Skyhawk flights; visiting the Kidney Foundation of Indiana’s Kidney Camp, where Marcus and volunteer hot air balloonist Jim Poling brought a basket full of fun; Flight1 volunteers passing out foam plate gliders and plenty of smiles Down Syndrome Indiana’s Fly-in and Open House; and Courageous Fliers and their families following in Amelia Earhart’s footsteps on a private tour of Purdue University’s historic aviation educational facilities.

We’re aiming high in 2014 with plans to grow the program to 60 Courageous Fliers. Want to help? Volunteer or donate today!
